Some builders in England recently found a cat entombed in the wall of a house. Experts think he or she has been there for nearly 400 years. Apparently, putting a cat into the wall of your house (no word on whether the cat was already dead) was thought to be good luck in Europe at one time.
Forget about how fucked up that might be. Let’s talk about this:
“We had an inkling that there was a cat here, there’s been a local myth, a legend, that there’s been one buried in the house but of course we had no idea where that was. My first thoughts were that we didn’t need it in the house but actually it adds a bit of colour to the village so we’re going to put it back.”
Oh sure, don’t bother giving the cat a proper burial or anything. Just stick him or her back in the wall! Why would anyone want a dead cat in the wall? Am I the only person who thinks this is insane?
(P.S. There is a photo of the cat at the link above, but I didn’t want to post it here because I found it to be fairly upsetting.)
