This is Patch and his owner, John McGahey. John McGahey is a Vietnam vet with post-traumatic stress disorder. His doctor approved the use of a service animal to help McGahey stay calm in public, but some people simply refuse to believe that a cat can help as much as a dog can. While I’m sure a dog is more helpful if you’re blind, I think most cats’ ability to remain totally nonplussed no matter what the situation is better if you’re dealing with stress or panic. Having Jack around would probably keep me calmer when people talk at the movies or walk slowly or any of the other things that piss me off on a daily basis.
