In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, many many animals were left homeless. Now, after Hurricane Ike, it’s not only domestic animals in need of new homes. According to USA Today, a tiger and a lion are among the pets on the run.
The lion, an 11-year-old female named Shackle, took refuge in a church during the storm with her owner, but the tiger escaped from an exotic animal sanctuary and is still on the loose. The question of why someone had a full-grown lion as a pet is not addressed.
